About This Tool

Currency to Cryptocurrency Converter – Fiat and Crypto Exchange Reference

The Currency to Cryptocurrency Converter lets you quickly estimate how much of a major cryptocurrency you can obtain for a given amount of fiat money — or how much fiat your crypto holdings are worth. It supports 20 fiat currencies (including USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, and INR) and 15 leading cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and Dogecoin (DOGE).

Who Is This Tool For?

Retail investors exploring cryptocurrency for the first time often want a quick reality check: "How many Bitcoins does $5,000 buy right now?" or "What is my 0.5 ETH worth in euros?" This converter answers both questions instantly without requiring a live exchange account or a data subscription. It is also useful for educators, journalists, and financial writers who need a convenient reference value when discussing crypto markets.

How the Conversion Works

All conversions use USD as an internal bridge currency. The formula is:

Result = Amount × (Price of From Asset in USD) ÷ (Price of To Asset in USD)

For example, to convert 1,000 EUR to BTC, the tool first converts EUR to USD using the reference EUR/USD rate, then divides by Bitcoin's reference USD price. This two-step approach ensures that every fiat-to-crypto, crypto-to-fiat, and crypto-to-crypto pair produces consistent results without requiring a dedicated rate table for every combination.

Supported Conversions

The tool supports four conversion directions:

  • Fiat to cryptocurrency — find out how much BTC, ETH, or SOL a given dollar or euro amount would buy at reference prices.
  • Cryptocurrency to fiat — convert a crypto holding into its approximate local currency value.
  • Crypto to crypto — compare the relative value of two cryptocurrencies, for example how many ETH one BTC is worth.
  • Basket mode — convert a single fiat amount into all 15 supported cryptocurrencies simultaneously, displayed as a comparison table. This is useful for portfolio planning and illustrating the diversity in crypto valuations.

Understanding the Results

Each result shows the converted amount, the exchange rate used (in both directions), and a disclaimer reminding you that the rates are approximate. For very small cryptocurrencies like SHIB (Shiba Inu), where one US dollar buys tens of thousands of tokens, the result is displayed in scientific notation to avoid confusion. For large-cap coins like BTC, the result is shown with up to 8 decimal places because even a small fiat amount corresponds to a fraction of a coin.

Cryptocurrency Prices Are Volatile

Unlike fiat exchange rates, which typically move by fractions of a percent in a single day, cryptocurrency prices can change by 10–30% within hours. The reference rates in this tool are hardcoded at a point in time and are not updated in real time. Treat all results as rough estimates only. For live quotes, use a reputable source such as CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap, Binance, or Coinbase.

How Crypto-to-Crypto Works Internally

When you convert between two cryptocurrencies — say BTC to ETH — there is no direct BTC/ETH rate table. Instead, the tool prices both assets in USD:

  • BTC reference price: ~$97,500
  • ETH reference price: ~$2,650
  • 1 BTC ≈ 97,500 ÷ 2,650 ≈ 36.8 ETH at reference prices

This is sometimes called cross-rate calculation. Actual on-chain or exchange swap rates may differ due to liquidity depth and trading fees.

Popular Conversion Pairs

The quick-select buttons at the top of the tool cover the most commonly searched pairs: USD/BTC, USD/ETH,EUR/BTC, GBP/ETH, and several others. Clicking a pair automatically fills both selectors and saves you scrolling through the full asset lists.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Crypto Converter free?

Yes, Crypto Converter is totally free :)

Can I use the Crypto Converter offline?

Yes, you can install the webapp as PWA.

Is it safe to use Crypto Converter?

Yes, any data related to Crypto Converter only stored in your browser (if storage required). You can simply clear browser cache to clear all the stored data. We do not store any data on server.

How does the Currency to Cryptocurrency Converter work?

The converter bridges all conversions through USD internally. To convert from any fiat currency or cryptocurrency to another, it first converts the input amount to its USD equivalent using a reference rate, then converts that USD value into the target asset. This two-step approach ensures consistency across all fiat-to-crypto, crypto-to-fiat, and crypto-to-crypto pairs.

Are the cryptocurrency prices shown here real-time?

No. This is a static, offline tool that uses approximate reference rates compiled at the time of the last update. Cryptocurrency prices are extremely volatile and can move dramatically within seconds. Always check a live price source — such as CoinGecko, Binance, or Coinbase — before making any actual purchase or sale.

Which cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies are supported?

The tool supports 15 major cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), BNB, XRP, Cardano, Dogecoin, and more. On the fiat side, 20 currencies are supported including USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, INR, CAD, AUD, CHF, and others.

What does the basket mode do?

Basket mode converts a single fiat or crypto amount into all 15 supported cryptocurrencies simultaneously, showing the equivalent value of each. It is useful for comparing how much of different cryptocurrencies a given amount of money would buy at current reference prices.

Can I convert crypto-to-crypto, for example BTC to ETH?

Yes. The converter supports crypto-to-crypto pairs such as BTC to ETH. Both amounts are internally priced in USD, and the result reflects the relative value based on those reference prices.

Why should I not use this tool for financial transactions?

Cryptocurrency exchanges and brokers apply their own bid/ask spreads, trading fees, and withdrawal costs on top of the mid-market rate. Additionally, crypto prices can move significantly between the moment you see the reference rate and the moment you execute a trade. This tool is intended for estimation and educational purposes only.
