Random Joke Generator – Instant Laughs on Demand
Sometimes you just need something funny right now — for an icebreaker, a classroom energizer, a social post, or a quick pick-me-up during a slow afternoon. The Random Joke Generator solves that instantly. Click Generate and get one or several jokes pulled from a curated local dataset spanning puns, dad jokes, knock-knock jokes, animal jokes, programmer humor, office humor, food jokes, and sports jokes — with no internet connection or external API required, keeping it fast and fully in-browser.
Eight Categories, Two Formats
Every joke in the bank is tagged with a Category — Puns, Dad Jokes, Knock-Knock, Animal, Programmer, Office, Food, or Sports — and a Format, either a short One-Liner or a classic Setup & Punchline exchange. Combine both filters to zero in on exactly what you need: pick "Programmer" jokes for a developer meetup, or "Knock-Knock" for a kids' car ride game.
Keyword Search
Looking for a joke about a specific topic? Type a word into the Keyword field — like "cat" or "programmer" — and the tool filters the pool down to jokes whose text contains it. If nothing matches, you'll get a friendly message suggesting you broaden your filters instead of a dead-end error.
Family-Friendly by Default
The Family-Friendly Only switch is on by default, hiding the small number of jokes tagged as mildly adult-themed (light references to dating or drinking — never explicit content). Toggle it off if you specifically want to include that broader pool; leave it on for classrooms, workplaces, or any audience where squeaky-clean humor matters.
Batch Generation and No-Repeat Sessions
Need several jokes at once? Set Number of Jokes to generate up to 10 in a single click — a numbered list ready to copy or download as a CSV for a slideshow or a "joke of the day" batch. Running a longer session, like a classroom activity? Turn on Avoid Repeats and the generator tracks every joke you've already seen, drawing a fresh one each time until the filtered pool has been fully used.
How the Randomization Works
Behind the scenes, the generator filters the joke bank down to the matching category, format, keyword, and clean-mode criteria, then performs a Fisher–Yates shuffle so no joke is more likely to appear than another. Leaving the Seed field blank uses the Web Crypto API for a cryptographically random draw; entering a seed switches to a deterministic algorithm so results can be recreated on demand.
Copy, Share, and Save Favorites
Every generated joke includes one-click Copy and social share buttons for X, Facebook, and WhatsApp, so you can post it or send it to a friend in seconds. Tap the star icon to Favorite a joke — favorites are stored in your browser's local storage and stick around across visits, so you can build a running list of your all-time favorites for later.
Common Use Cases
Teachers use it for kid-safe classroom icebreakers, party hosts pull quick one-liners to keep the energy up, developers grab programmer jokes for standups and meetups, and social media managers batch a week's worth of "joke of the day" posts in one sitting — all without an internet connection, since the entire joke library runs directly in your browser.
